Many aftermarket suspension components, like performance shocks, springs, sway bars, and control arms, can improve handling, reduce body roll, and enhance the driving experience. But if you want to keep your car stock and not drastically change its performance, we recommend buying OEM parts.

While technically you could, it’s usually not recommended. Shocks and struts are designed to work together as a balanced system. Mixing brands can possibly cause unpredictable handling and performance because each brand has its valving and damping characteristics. It’s best to replace them in pairs with matching components.

While leaking shocks are a common sign of failure, they can also wear out internally without leaking. The damping capability degrades, meaning they can no longer control the spring’s oscillations. Excessive bouncing, even without visible leaks, is a strong indicator that your shocks or struts need replacing.
